Release: Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Applications to Open Dec 1

November 21, 2022

Carlisle, Pennsylvania – The Cumberland County Housing and Redevelopment Authorities have announced the opening date of their Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) applications.

Applications will be available for both Carlisle Borough- and County-level grants from December 1st, 2022, until March 15th, 2023. While there are projections, the final grant amounts will be confirmed once allocation formulas are announced by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These grants are allocated to both Carlisle Borough and Cumberland County by HUD but are administered through the Authorities. Therefore, the Authorities will make funding recommendations to Borough Council and County Commissioners.

On December 1st, interested applicants may request an application package complete with guidelines and definitions. One application package must be completed for each project proposal. CDBG funds may be used for a wide variety of community development projects, including housing.

Additionally, the Authorities will be hosting a CDBG Open House on December 1st to meet with potential applicants. Non-profits, for-profits, government agencies, and municipalities are highly encouraged to attend. The Open House will be held at the Cumberland County Planning Offices at 310 Allen Road, Carlisle, PA 17013 from 2pm-4pm.

Interested parties may request more information, project development help, or RSVP to the CDBG Open House by contacting Heather Tidwell, Grants Specialist, at (717) 249-0789 x130, or at htidwell@cchra.com.
