Community and Business Development
The Redevelopment Authority’s Community Development Division administers programs that benefit our municipal partners—boroughs and townships—as well as the business community. The division oversees both the federal Community Development Block Grant Program and the HOME Investment Partnerships Program, as well as the annual call for applications for projects and services funded via these programs.
Downtown Program Services focuses on the downtowns across Cumberland County working with established organizations and business groups, as well as existing and prospective business owners and property owners, to make the downtown more vibrant and welcoming. The Authority can assist businesses in identifying potential properties to site their retail business, then works with them on a financing package to open their doors to customers. Programs are maintained, and new ones created, to preserve historic architecture while promoting fresh, lively, street views and interesting storefronts—because a more attractive downtown is more attractive to shoppers.
Working with our community partners, the Authority has earned statewide, regional and national honors for its work on streetscapes, master planning and development projects, multi-municipal and revitalization initiatives.
