Senior & Disabled Housing
What Is It?
The Housing and Redevelopment Authorities provide the highest quality of affordable housing for those living in Cumberland and Perry Counties and offer a variety of apartment choices. All properties are managed by a professional staff, and the buildings and grounds cared for with in-house maintenance personnel.
In Cumberland County, the Authorities manage over 400 units of affordable housing for eligible families, seniors and individuals who are disabled, and 44 units of senior housing in Perry County. These units are funded through public housing, USDA Rural Development, low-income housing tax credits and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Section 8 project-based programs.
Each property is unique—some are located in downtowns while others are located in a rural setting—and each has its own residency requirements. The majority of units have a subsidized rent with the remainder of apartments offered at below-market rent rates.
